Alita's Puppies
Alita has 7 strong, healthy babies left from an 11 puppy fiasco. She had entirely too many puppies in her little body and they compressed all her vessels, wouldn't let her eat enough, and essentially tried to drain the life out of her. We had to go to UMC for medical stabilization so we could get her safely transferred to my mom for an emergency c-section on October 19th. Alita's vitals bounced back immediately when those babies were out. It took her a few days to recover metabolically, but she has been gaining weight along with her babies since. No one associated with the case has any long term concerns for the puppies or Alita. It was just a matter of reaching critical mass-no more room.
These puppies should be ready to go home December 21st.
The generation of these puppies is technically F2. Alita is an F3bb and Dude is an F1. Coat type distribution should be similar to that of an F1b litter based on genetic coat testing. I think weight will range from 40-70# based on the following information: Alita is about 42# and Dude is 65#. Alita's dad is Rowdy, who is a little 40# guy, and her mom is Rhea, who is closer to 70#. Dude's parents were both about 60-65#. When Dude has puppies with Alita's full sister, Gamoira, the litter tends to split with half at the top of the range and half at the bottom. When Rowdy has puppies with Rhea or Aurora the litter splits the same way.
"Frosty" Black Parti Male- $850
Athena's Puppies
Athena(F1b) had 7 chunky F2 babies by Rowdy (F3b) on October 29th. She did it the exact opposite way of her sister, Alita. She acted like she was never pregnant, casually laid down in the big crate in our bedroom and had 7 babies. Then, she was ready for breakfast.
These babies will be 9 weeks, my usual release age, on December 31st. I can legally release them December 24th at 8 weeks if it is completely necessary for someone's Christmas. Please discuss ahead of time so I can make timing adjustments to their vaccine/deworming schedule.
Expected weight range for these puppies is similar to that of Alita's litter at 40-70 #. Athena is 65#. Her mother is also Rhea, who is 70# and her dad is Dude, who is 65#. Alita was bred to Rowdy, who is my little scaler at 40#. When Rowdy, or a small daughter of his, like Gamoira, is bred to one of the bigger dogs the litter tends to split in half on size with about half at the top of the range and half at the bottom, with rare puppies hitting somewhere in the middle.
Coat type distribution should be similar to that of an F1b litter based on genetic coat testing.
"Cookie" Apricot Parti Male- $800 He is a doll. When all the puppies are around my feet, this dude goes up the stairs. If he can reach, he will lick my ear. If he can't reach, he just sits quietly and waits until I turn around. He knows if he is eye level that he will get special treatment. He is sooo sweet, generally calm, and smart with a thick bone structure. I think he will be towards the top end of the weight range. Probably 70#. He does need a home that will socialize him well. He does the silly thing his dad did as a pup; when he sees something he is unsure about he barks first and asks questions later. He doesn't sit around and bark for no reason or bark to demand things. It's just his startle response. I've only seen him do it a couple times, but it has happened. Rowdy got through it. You just can't feed into it. Whoever his people are need to have the personality to mold him properly. You have to show him whatever freaked him out is fine. Make him confront it in a positive but persistent way, not shelter him from it. We are doing what we can now, but his critical socialization period is at around 3-5 months of age, and will need reinforcement through adolescence.
